The school of Physics was established in the year 1971.It started with a programme on MSc Physics.
M.Tech in Laser science and Application was established on support from National Laser programme of
Department of Atomic Energy, Mumbai. (NLP-BRNS) in the year 1995.The degree is AICTE approved. Under
NEP policy the Department runs B.sc Hons in Physics -a four-year degree programme in Physics since 2019.
The Department was supported Level II category- Funds for Improvement of S & T Infrastructure in
Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (FIST) of DST, Delhi in 2003. The Department was
recognized for special assistance under Special Assistance Programme (SAP) of UGC-Delhi, Level of DRS-I

Admission to various courses is made through a screening test followed by an interview.
The department takes pride in the fact that student body spectrum covers the whole of the country.
The department has a highly qualified and dedicated regular faculty and is well supported
by distinguished associate faculty from Centre for Advanced Technology, Inter-University Consortium for DAE facilities, Indore,
Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad and Institute of Plasma Research, Gandhinagar. It has memorandum of
understanding (MOU) with internationally reputed laboratories as Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad,
Inter-University Consortium for DAE facilities, Indore and Institute of Plasma Research, Gandhinagar.
School has educated since 1971:
